A (Sort-Of) New Calling

Since just before the beginning of the year, I have been serving as the Education Counselor in the Relief Society in my ward. I have been loving every minute of it, and I thought that it was a very good fit for me. But, things have been turned around a bit, and now I'm going to be serving as the Enrichment Counselor instead! I am excited about the change, but a little daunted. So, if any of you have inspired ideas for Enrichment that I can steal, please let me know! This is going to be so fun, but I know I'm going to need all the help that I can get.

Happy Arbor Day!

Today we went with Nancy and Preston Lisonbee to Red Butte Garden in Salt Lake to see all the beautiful spring daffodils. I don't think I've ever seen so many varieties of daffodils in one central location. My favorites were the white ones with orange centers, and I also loved the miniature daffodils. So pretty! Since it was Arbor Day, admission was free, and each of the kids received a free oak tree sapling to plant at home. The mayor even came and performed a fun tree planting ceremony. There were lots of things for the kids to do-our favorites were digging in the dirt to explore different kinds of roots, and also feeding the fish in one of the larger ponds. We had a very fun time!

Strike A Pose

There's nothing to it.
VOGUE!

Ahh Spring

These pictures are from my FRONT YARD. I love Spring.

The Dinosaur Museum

On Friday, we went to the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point. It wasn't our plan (we had planned to go to the Aquarium, but it didn't work out) so this was kind of spur of the moment. We went with Nancy and Preston Lisonbee, and we had a really fun time. That is, until Sylvia peed her pants! So unlike her! Anyway, fun was had by all.

Easter Eggs

After the Easter Egg Hunt this morning, we came right home and got to the real fun--dyeing Easter Eggs! Since these kids are still so little, we stuck with a dozen. We got a glitter kit, and that was just a bad idea. The glitter only covered about 3 eggs, and Ben wanted to hold them and give them kisses before they were dry. Glitter everywhere! We improvised and covered the rest of the eggs with stickers. This was perfect! (BTW, Ben is covered in egg dye. Hopefully by church time tomorrow, he'll look somewhat normal...)

The Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Egg hunt was really fun this morning! The hunt is put on by the Springville Rotary Club, and it is held at the Springville High School football field. It was a wet, rainy morning, but a little rain wouldn't stop us! We arrived 15 minutes before the hunt started, and Ben could hardly contain himself. While the crowd was receiving instructions from a Club member, Ben ran out onto the field, dead set on getting candy before anyone else. The man giving instructions saw Ben, and said, "and if any kid tries to pick up candy before 10:00 am, they will be sent to the city jail!" Good thing he was only kidding!

The Easter Bunny

Yesterday we took the kids to see the Easter Bunny. Very fun! What are the odds that Ben was actually looking at the camera for every shot, and we couldn't get Sylvia to smile at us? Silly.

Let's Play!

Finally, we have some beautiful, warm days to enjoy. And no one enjoys the warm weather more than these kiddos. They are so tired of being cooped up in the house all day! I love the pictures of them playing together. There is a lot of playing to be done, and these two aren't wasting any time.

Ben's New Thing

Kind of for a belated Christmas present, Nate bought me the Indiana Jones boxed set. Growing up, these movies were some of my very favorites (especially Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, hence why I chose the photo above...) It is a wonderful gift for a geek like myself.
I was surprised, however, at how much the kids really enjoy the movies right along with Mama and Daddy. The kids have a different favorite than I do, though. They both love Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. When asked, Sylvia always requests "the one where they eat the monkey brains!" Totally gross, but funny nonetheless.
Ben especially has latched on to the Indiana Jones movies. He comes up, and in so many words asks to watch one of the movies. He'll say something like, "show, show, show...na na na na Jones! Pease." He loves Indiana's costume--the whip, jacket, but most importantly the fedora. Whenever he sees someone wearing one on tv or in a picture, he shouts out "Jones!!!!" Very exciting.
Just this morning, Nate and I were awakened to some singing coming from the kids' room. It was Ben, singing his own personal version of the Indiana Jones theme song! This kid is awesome.

Cute and Crazy

I don't normally post videos on the blog, (especially videos of cute animals...I'm not really a pet person) but this was super cute. A baby deer coming through a pet door? Priceless

Why I Love Easter

This is why I love Easter! It is a very good thing that these sugary confections are not available year-round, because I would probably weigh 300 pounds. I know that many members of my family prefer the other popular Easter treat Peeps, but I have to say that I am right, and they're wrong. Ha! According to the Cadbury Creme Egg website (yes, the eggs have their own website) there are only 9 days left of the creme egg season. Sad? I feel torn. Like I said before, it's probably a good thing.
