Stone Soup

The kids just recently finished a 2 week theater camp that my Aunt Betsy put on at her home.  The play that the kids performed was Stone Soup, which Betsy wrote - music and all!  Betsy's version of the story was set in the old west, so Ben was a cowboy, and Sylvia was a little western maid.  They were so cute!  Every kid had a line or two to say, and there were several songs for the kids to sing and dance along with.  I helped Betsy by teaching the kids the songs, and I helped a little with other direction as well.  The kids worked very hard for 2 hours each day for about 2 weeks, and the final performance was awesome!  (Except for the ridiculous heat, which was awful.)  This camp, coupled with T-Ball and Coach Pitch, has made June quite a busy month for the kids.  Whoever said Summer vacation was boring?

Art City Days Parade

Fire Trucks are loud

We went to the Art City Days Parade this morning, and this year the parade was great!  We sat with the Taniguchis, and they are always a fun bunch, so we had a really good time.  And what is it with me losing my kids at parades?  Last year, we lost Ben, and this year, it was Sylvia.  She got separated from me, and we looked for her for 20 minutes before Nate found her.  I cried when we found her, I just love that little girl so much!  Losing her was traumatic to say the least.  I'm lucky that I have friends that are helpful in stressful situations like this.  I even had one friend call me on the phone an hour or so after the parade was over.  She had seen me walking the parade route with a look of concern on my face, and wanted to make sure that everything was ok!  Once we had Sylvia safe and sound, we enjoyed the rest of the parade, and then came home and spent the afternoon on the Slip 'n Slide.  Art City Days has been a lot of fun this year.

Art City Days Fun

Today was the Art City Days Children's Parade.  It seemed like a good idea to go this morning...and then:
  • Sylvia speeds off without Ben, having a grand old time.
  • Ben has a major meltdown because his sister left him.
  • Ben quits riding his scooter with 1/4 of the parade left to ride.
  • It was devilishly hot.
Thankfully, Henry slept the whole time.
Real life, folks!

Finally...

The little bugger sprouted his first tooth!

Mini Cheer 2012

Little Miss being so cute!

Springville High School's Mini Cheer Camp was a lot of fun this year.  Sylvia was way more interested in socializing with the other girls in her group than actually learning the dances or the cheers, but she was still adorable at the performance.  The girlies had a week of practices, and then a Spectacular out on SHS's football field.  Sylvia did a great job, and it was obvious that she was having a great time.  She looks forward to mini cheer camp all year long!

Henry is 6 Months Old

Please excuse the beat up swing...it's a little worse for wear-and it has been through 3 kids now.

Things Henry Can Do At 6 Months Old:
  • He thinks he's mobile.  He rolls around to get from point A to B.  He rocks on all fours, and is trying VERY hard to crawl.  My other two didn't even attempt to crawl until closer to 9 or 10 months.  This is making me crazy.
  • Blows raspberries ALL DAY LONG.
  • Loves to sit in the grass, and run his fingers through it.  Again, something my other two would never do.
  • Has decided that he prefers table food to baby food. He spits out rice cereal, but will eat watermelon, peas, cereal bits or mashed potatoes. And bananas. The kid loves chunks of banana!
  • Still no sign of teeth, but he drools like he's getting a whole mouthful.

Sleepy Head

This is a regular occurrence after a long day of playing...

Springville's Teddy Bear Picnic

Juli, Sylvia and Lexi lookin' so cute

Art City Days just wouldn't be the same without the Teddy Bear Picnic at the Springville City Library.  Last October, the city finished the new library, so this year the kids got to enjoy the party at the new location.  We love the new library - there is a HUGE children's section, and big rooms for Storytime and other fun activities.  The library is now right next to a section of Hobble Creek, so the grassy area outside is lovely.  You can hear the creek babbling by.  This was definitely a fun activity.  My kids didn't love their little sheep hats, but you can see (on Lexi and Juli) how cute they were!

T-Ball & Coach Pitch

Sylvia got a piece of that ball!

June is going to be a busy month, with Ben in T-Ball, and Sylvia playing Coach-Pitch Softball.  Nate is coaching Ben's team this year, you know, to keep him in line!  Sylvia is playing with many of the same girls who were on her T-Ball team last year, so she had instant friends this season.  She has been doing really well, and getting bites out of most of the balls pitched to her.  Both of these kids need a fire lit under their bums, though, when it comes to running bases.  They are content to jog around the field, while we're all yelling for them to run run run!!!
